Valarie Wahl

~ Valarie Wahl currently lives in Spokane, Washington, and is a registrar at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. She is a graduate of Washington State University where she studied fine art.



Ji Ruoxiao

~ Ji Ruoxiao has been a professor of art at Sichuan Normal University, in Chengdu, for twenty years. She graduated in fine arts from Southwestern Normal University, in Chongqing, and completed advanced studies at the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing, generally acknowledged as the China's preeminent fine arts academy. She lives in Seattle and returns each year to Sichuan to teach. At the First National Art Exhibition of Chinese Landscape Painting, Ruoxiao was honored with the Selected Work Award, and she received the Maple Leaf Award at the International Oriental Sumi Art Exhibition. Her paintings are in the collection of the Chinese Art Museum, in Beijing, and in 1995 she was one of two Chinese artists whose work was chosen for the art exhibition at the Fourth United Nations World Conference of Women. She is the author of three books on the theory and technique of Chinese brush painting and has lectured at the University of California at Berkeley, the San Fran- cisco Art Institute, and Washington State University.
